CBSE submits class 12 Assessment formula
CBSE and CISCE place before SC the evaluation criteria for awarding grades/marks to the Class-XII exams.
Attorney general K K Venugopal places the evaluation criteria for CBSE to assess performance of students in class 10, 11, and 12 examinations
For evaluating a student, his marks in best of three papers for class 10 would be given 30% weightage, for class 11 weightage of 30% and for class 12 the weightage is 40%.
For Class X and XI, the marks in the best of three from five papers in term examinations will be considered.
For Class XII, the marks obtained in the unit, term, and practical exams will be taken into account.
. A result committee will be there for each of the schools to rule out advantage to students in some schools, which traditionally gives high marks to students, Attorney general K K Venugopal said.
said there will be a moderation committee to look into the difference in marking mechanism adopted by schools.
Each school has to form a result committee to take into account the marks of a student obtained in the three examinations. This would be vetted by the moderation committee of CBSE.
Historical performance of a school in Class XII board for last few years and the overall percentage of marks obtained by students in past years’ board examinations will be taken into account for moderation purposes.
1Students, who are not satisfied with the marks/grading through the present mechanism, can improve upon their marks by appearing in physical examinations which would be held as soon as the situation normalises, AG said.
The declaration of the result will be by July 31.
SC bench of Justices A M Khanwilkar and Dinesh Maheshwari said there should be an inbuilt mechanism in the scheme to address the grievance of students about marks obtained by him after the declaration of results. AG said he would consult the authorities.
